Our aim is to go beyond the simple relief of symptoms, which is beneficial in the short term, looking at the underlying causes of the problem. Working with these can lead to longer term relief, or even permanent resolution, as well as helping to improve the quality of your life. We are achieving this by:

Anne Lee; Body Control Pilates Instructor Instructor

Having attended Pilates classes for seven years and enjoyed the positive effects it had, I felt the next step was - coming from a teaching background – to qualify to teach it!. I qualified in 2013 with Body Control, which is recognised as a leading company in the Pilates world.


What is Pilates?

Pilates is named after its founder, Joseph Pilates, who developed a series of physical exercises promoting flexibility, strength, coordination, flow and stamina. He believed we can all move in a more efficient way, through concentrating the mind on the body


How can Pilates help me?

Pilates provides a variety of benefits for coping with day to day living; I initially started attending classes to improve my flexibility and strengthen core muscles, yet grew to love how relaxed, released and “lengthened” I felt after each session!

Pilates can improve posture, relieve and prevent back pain, tone and strengthen the body, and importantly reduce the stress and tension that compromise our lifestyles.


How does it work?

Pilates links the mind and body. By focusing on your inner self while feeling the movements, you really begin to benefit physically and improve your wellbeing.

The exercises are designed to develop core strength while linking breathing to movement and creating flow and suppleness. Pilates is not an aerobic workout, nor are the benefits felt immediately. If you care about the long-term benefits of keeping your mind and body in shape, then Pilates is for you!


What happens in the class?

Classes last for an hour and have a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. During the session, you will move through a range of exercises, to lengthen , strengthen, and tone the body.  My role as instructor is to teach, demonstrate and correct positions, encouraging better alignment.

Importantly, the class is to be enjoyed, not endured! -  you are welcome to ask questions, during and after the class, if you are unsure about anything


What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement, socks or bare feet.  All equipment is provided.


How much will it cost?

Because of its progressive nature, classes are run in 6 week blocks. Costs are £51, and the first block attended includes a 1-1 session with me to outline basic Pilates skills
