POSITIVE CARE PROGRAMME PILOT SCHEME
For people with long-standing health problems
and for people who are carers.
Every Saturday from 18th February to 31st March 2012
from 10.00 - 1.00
WHAT IS IT?
This Positive Care Programme is a 6 week pilot scheme of holistic therapies, group activities and motivational workshops based on a similar programme that has run in Leeds for the past 7 years.
WHO IS IT FOR?
- People with long - term health problems (eg arthritis, depression, chronic pain, stress, ME, MS, cancer, heart disease etc.)
- Carers (non professional) looking after someone wit health problems.
WHO IS IT NOT SUITABLE FOR?
- People with psychotic illness, severe learning difficulties, severe memory problems (dementia) and uncontrolled epilepsy - since not all therapies are suitable for people with these conditions.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
The total programme of 18 hours therapeutic value costs £60 (payable in advance).
WHEN DOES IT TAKE PLACE?
The programme starts with a FREE 3 hour introductory day on
Saturday 18th February from 10.00 to 1.00.
The programme then runs for the following 6 Saturdays
from 10.00 to 1.00.
WHAT IS INVOLVED?
- Attending the introductory day and the 6 weeks of the programme
- Giving feedback about whether or not the programme has helped you with your health problems.

Participants in the Leeds Programme reported that
- 38% had visited their GP less.
- 32% were able to reduce their medication.
- 94% were more able to understand how their lifestyle affected their health.
- 91% had made positive changes to improve their health.
